Fine Art of Fiber
Join us at Chicagoland’s ultimate quilting exhibition, the Fine Art of Fiber. Held at the Chicago Botanic Garden, this one-of-a-kind venue provides our guild members with a unique opportunity to display their work.
IQI has been exhibiting quilts at the Chicago Botanic Garden for over 30 years. Two other north suburban fiber art guilds join us at this exhibit, offering a diverse range of work. It’s one of the reasons why attendance at the Fine Art of Fiber recently broke the 10,000 mark.
Can you think of a more perfect location to show your own work? IQI members may exhibit one quilt a year as a benefit of membership; there is no fee although exhibitors are expected to volunteer at the show. Additional submissions are juried by the FAOF Committee. Just visit the Fine Art of Fiber’s site at: fineartoffiber.org/forms.htm to download the current exhibit and boutique entry forms, and submit them by the September deadline.
Entry to the show is also free, though non-member visitors to the Garden pay for parking. IQI members receive a parking pass to the Garden good for the weekend of the show in exchange for volunteering. Visitors may also cast their vote for the Viewers’ Choice awards: first, second and third place ribbons are awarded on the final day of the show based on visitor favorites.
In addition to the exhibit, the Fine Art of Fiber includes a boutique where members can sell their work, a Silent Auction of fiber art donated by members to benefit their guilds, a fashion show, and the sale of IQI raffle quilt tickets which supports guild speakers and programs for the upcoming year. Members are expected to purchase or sell $25.00 worth of tickets annually.
- 2019 show includes the “Garden Pearls” challenge in honor of the 30th anniversary of the combined guilds shows.
- Entry submissions are due September 12, 2019. Forms and instructions will be on the FAOF website (see above) by June 2019.
- Show dates: November 7-10, 2019.
